Virginia’s Voice for Diabetes Awareness, Prevention, and Management Committed to Connection, Collaboration, and Creating Community

A Partnership for Awareness, Education, and Prevention

Diabetes is a serious illness, and it’s affecting growing numbers of Americans. Nearly 10% of Americans – some 30 million people – have diabetes. More than a third of the U.S. population has prediabetes, and 90% of those don’t even know they have it. And, diabetes kills nearly 70,000 Americans a year – more than breast cancer and HIV combined.

Against this sobering backdrop, the Virginia Diabetes Council works tirelessly to advocate for diabetes prevention and diabetes management services throughout Virginia. By raising awareness, promoting education, and building collaborations to empower those living with or at risk of developing diabetes, our volunteer-led organization is dedicated to becoming the premier collaborative source for diabetes prevention and management for our state. It is our fervent aim to direct our collective passion and commitment into a single rally cry for diabetes awareness, prevention, and management for all Virginians.
